Happenings
It has been awhile since I posted. I keep meaning to, but then put it off another day. We worked tirelessly for 5 months to bring Christopher home on Humanitarian Parole. The government made it's final decision to deny that petition. Now we are pursuing adoption. This means starting at the very beginning and putting together the whole dossier to send to Haiti. Most of this I had already done for HP purposes, be we just had our psychological exam and medical exams done. All we need are those letters, translations, authentications, then we send it all to Haiti for the BIG WAIT.
I hold out hope that Haitian adoptions will be processed faster and more smoothly than before the quake. I figure that 900 children were cleared out of IBESR (Haitian Social Services) with HP, so there won't be such a backlog of adoptions in the works. One can hope. I would love to have Christopher home for his 3rd birthday in October, but I learned a long time ago not to put a timeframe on Haitian Adoptions. Once the wait is over and your child is home with you, you realize it was all worth it. Every bit of it.
Let's see...in other news....We found out the last week of school that the Christian School the boys were attending planned on closing after 30 years. No notice. No warning. Just done. We, along with other families that were left in the lurch have opted to open a new Christian School using the same curriculum. Shane is on the interim board for that. That keeps him very busy.
Shane has also changed jobs within the Salvation Army. He no longer is the Program Director but now is the IT Specialist. He will be over all IT for the new KROC Center. He has also starting schooling for IT "stuff". He is taking on line classes. Have I mentioned that he is busy???
Our Highlight of the summer so far has been my 2 sisters visiting with their children. Val came with Arianna from Oregon and Kim came from Pennsylvania with Hannah and her Elliana. We got to have 2 weeks with them and it was great! We all went to New Braunfels with my parents to one of their timeshares. (Shane had to stay home to work)
We were able to take them to a rodeo at Criders in Hunt.
We spent time at the river.
I also took Val, Kim, Arianna and Evan down to the Alamo and River Walk in San Antonio.
I was so sad to see them leave. Sure wish we all lived closer.
God has really been laying adoption more and more on our hearts. For several months Shane and I have said, "We need to start adoption ministries in churches. Churches need to be involved and a place where people who want to adopt can go for help". I've been researching more about this and am very excited at where it is leading.
